Three Tips for Antique Shopping

As our annual Holiday Sale approaches, we want to give you a few tips and tricks to shopping at Treasures N Junk. Antique shopping is an art that takes time to learn, but with a few tips like these, you will be close to the pros. Don't forget to stop by TNJ this Saturday and Sunday, November 8th and 9th, for our annual Holiday Sale. This is the perfect time to pick up a few decorations or even to get ahead on your Christmas shopping!

Our first tip is to look up and down, high and low. You never know what treasures (or junk) may be hiding in each space. Sometimes some of the best finds at TNJ are the ones that are not in plain sight. Also, take your time going from space to space. If you rush you may never find the treasure that you are looking for. Take your time, inspect every square inch of every space and you may find just what you are looking for. Here are a few things that you might miss if you don't slow down a bit:

Our second tip is that there is always another use. By this we mean that every piece of furniture can have a completely new function with just a little creativity. Have you ever found a piece that you couldn't keep your eyes off of and had a hard time walking away from? It didn't fit in with your decor or it didn't have a use in your house? Get your creative juices going and give the piece a new purpose or even a fresh coat of paint. Check out these pieces that some of our dealers repurposed or gave a fresh coat of paint:

Our last, and most important tip that we constantly stress, is that if you see something you like, buy it right away! Antiques are one of a kind and there is no guarantee that the piece you fell in love with will be there the next day. Where else can you find a pink bathroom sink or a one of a kind Coca Cola piece? If you can't pay for the entire item right away, then we have layaway until you can gather the funds for that piece you fell in love with. Here are a few examples of one of a kind pieces:

Remember these tips the next time you go antique shopping. Better yet, put these tips to use this weekend at our annual Holiday Sale this Saturday and Sunday, November 8th and 9th!
